Moms Put Up With A Lot

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Last week I learned something new. Mothers don’t measure the age of their children by years or by height or by the grade they are in. Mothers measure by the progression of how their children refer to them: from Mama to Mommy to Mom.

You know when you think about it, Moms have to put up with a lot from their kids. In fact the way in which their children see them is rather amazing.

4 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mother doesn’t know much.
14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mom…duh!
16 YEARS OF AGE ~ My mom? She’s like, so “not cool”.
18 YEARS OF AGE ~ Moms too old. She’s out of touch!
25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a little bit.
35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Let’s get Mom’s opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wonder what Mom thinks about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

I wonder what things would be like if we could see Mom at age 16 the way we do at age 65?
